Overview: Founded in 1992, Delaware Citizens Opposed to the Death Penalty (DCODP) is a statewide organization that educates the public about the harmful effects of the death penalty, and advocates alternatives that affirm rather than denigrate the value of human life.

Mission: Delaware Citizens Opposed to the Death Penalty is a coalition of individuals and groups formed with the purpose of ending capital punishment in Delaware.

DCODP seeks to educate and promote an understanding among Delawareans of the realities associated with capital punishment, focusing on its philosophical and practical inadequacies, while encouraging non-violent alternatives for the punishment of crime which do not denigrate the value of human life.

To this end, DCODP shall, in coalition with other organizations, engage in the following activities:

2. Community outreach
3. Public awareness
4. Legislative action and
5. Litigation
